January 2024 Water Level Update
Water levels are finally on the rise again! This summer was one of the driest we’ve had in several years. In fact, the water levels on our warm water fisheries were at some record lows for a good part of this year.
The low water levels really moved some fish around, due to the loss of habitat on the bank for some of their favorite summer spots. The western part of the state in particular suffered incredibly low water levels, which of course effects everything down stream. The lake level on our tailwater is still very low. Until the lake fills back up, we will continue to have low water on our tailwater fishery.
Water levels are something that can really affect fishing. Rising and falling water can turn on or off a river quickly. Paying attention to what the levels are is critical to decidding what kind of approach you will have for the day. Everything from weight to color is adjusted to water conditions.
Hopefully we will continue to have good weather conditions refilling our water table for the rest of winter!
Trips are available year-round. With the recent rains and snows, water levels are finally coming up. Now is the perfect time to get out and chase your PB musky.
